About Me
Balanced Living Clinical Counselling – with April Wessel, MA, CCC (#7824)
(Located in Kamloops, BC)
Hello! I’m April, and I’m here to support you through life’s challenges with compassion, curiosity, and understanding. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, therapy offers a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with your values.
My approach is integrative and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — a mindful, compassionate way of helping you notice what’s getting in the way of the life you want to live, while developing the flexibility and tools to move forward. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative and Solution-Focused approaches, Reality Therapy, and Person-Centered practices to explore what best supports your growth and well-being.
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a collaboration — where you feel safe, seen, and supported as we make sense of your experiences together. Each session is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and strengths, ensuring that our work reflects who you are and what matters most to you.
I live, work, and play on the unceded ancestral territory of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people, in the beautiful city of Kamloops, British Columbia. I’m deeply honoured to walk alongside individuals and families in this community as they find balance, meaning, and hope.
My Focus
Specialized Training
For clients and families living with ADHD, autism, or other forms of neurodivergence, I bring specialized training and deep clinical experience to help navigate a world that doesn’t always understand, and to systems, which can be needlessly complicated. Whether you’re a parent trying to support your child, a teen feeling exhausted from masking, or a young adult trying to find your place in the world, I offer practical support grounded in respect, understanding, and connection.
Healing and Growth
Above all, I believe that real healing and growth happen through authentic connection. A strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of everything I do, and I would be honored to walk alongside you or your family on this journey.
I offer free 20-minute consultations so you can ask questions and see if working together feels like a good fit.
