Balanced Living Clinical Counselling

with April Wessel, MA, RCC (#26632), CCC (#7824)
(Located in Kamloops, BC)

Hello! I’m April, and I’m here to support you through life’s challenges with compassion, curiosity, and understanding. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, therapy offers a space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with your values.

My approach is integrative and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) — a mindful, compassionate way of helping you notice what’s getting in the way of the life you want to live, while developing the flexibility and tools to move forward. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative and Solution-Focused approaches, Reality Therapy, and Person-Centered practices to explore what best supports your growth and well-being.

I believe therapy works best when it feels like a collaboration — where you feel safe, seen, and supported as we make sense of your experiences together. Each session is tailored to your unique needs, goals, and strengths, ensuring that our work reflects who you are and what matters most to you.

April Wessel

I live, work, and play on the unceded ancestral territory of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people, in the beautiful city of Kamloops, British Columbia. I’m deeply honoured to walk alongside individuals and families in this community as they find balance, meaning, and hope.

Specialized Training and Specialties and Expertise

For individuals and families managing ADHD and autism, I bring deep clinical experience and specialized training as an ADHD-Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). My goal is to help you navigate the world and its often overly complicated systems. I offer practical support grounded in respect, objective understanding, and professional connection.

Beyond this specialized focus, I help clients who experience a wide array of concerns, including, but not limited to, anxiety, grief, depression, stress, and social isolation. In our early sessions, we will identify your specific goals to co-create a plan for purposeful change. Our primary goal will be building the skills to handle uncomfortable emotions without letting them drive your choices. This puts you back in charge, helping you stay committed to what matters most, even in times of difficulty. By focusing on committed action and behavioral change, many of my clients see a functional improvement in their overall well-being and gain the tools necessary to move through life with greater confidence.
